Varadero Golf Club

The Xanadú Mansion

A mansion style hotel.

With rooms so unique that they have their own names.

The Xanadu Mansion is the Hotel and Club House of the Varadero Golf Club.

This boutique hotel is a real architectural wonder with breath-taking ocean and golf course views from all its seven balconies. This property has been carefully maintained and restored following its original construction plan dating from 1930, when it was commissioned and built for French American business tycoon Irénée du Pont, chairman at the time of the DuPont Company.

Some of its distinctive amenities are:

Main Floor:

  • Ample Desk and Lobby to welcome our guests.
  • Xanadu Restaurant, specialized in French and international cuisine, winner of a Certificate of Excellence in Trip Advisor since 2014, where together with our exquisite food, you can enjoy one of the best views of the beach and the golf course. The restaurant also offers a banquet module for groups of up to 120 clients. The same can be arranged in one or several rooms.
  • La Terraza Lounge, with sea view and a capacity for 50 diners
  • The Red Room, the Mansion’s original dining room with capacity for 32 diners, and the Lobby’s Main Hall has capacity for 100 diners.

Second Floor: Rooms

Third Floor: Casa Blanca Panoramic Bar: with stunning views of the sea, the golf course and the beach of Varadero. It was originally the party hall of the temporary residence of Mr. Irénée Dupont de Nemours. The bar offers a wide selection of appetizers, brandy’s, cognac, rums, vodkas, tequilas, creams, liqueurs, whiskey, gins, port, wines, bitters and other spirits, as well as coffees, waters, soft drinks, juices, beers, an exquisite Cuban and international cocktails.

I visited the Mansion Xanadu (then called Dupont Mansion) in 1993 and have often dreamed of visiting again because of its stunning beauty. My husband and I made a point of visiting when we were in Varadero last week, and the mansion is still as impressive. It now houses some hotel rooms, and we weren’t able to tour the whole building/property as we’d been able to in 1993, so we just visited the bar on the 3rd floor and that was enough. Amazing decor, architecture and most of all, view. The mansion is right on the water, and waves crash against the roc

This beautiful mansion is a must stay when you travel to Varadero. We were the only guests here tonight ( 8 rooms in total but 4 are getting renovated). The staff is outstanding. The cocktails at the bar one of the best we ever had. Breakfast and dinner was included in our stay and we were amazed at the amount and quality of the food. Don’t miss the home made chocolate fondue cake, it is to die for. We also liked it that the hop on hop off bus stops in front of the door.

My wife and I had been to the DuPont mansion for supper, on a previous trip to Varadero. This time we enjoyed the cigar lounge after a round of golf. We were cautious in our approach of the oldest functioning elevator in Cuba, and it worked flawlessly. Once at the top, the sights are some of the best we’ve seen. Anywhere. The view is amazing, and the authentic feel of the cigar lounge transports you to a time when the world was a better place. Service is great, and their selection of aged rums is excellent. My wife also said the mojito was the best she’s had. They have live music, which was a nice touch. The rest of the facility is nicely maintained and a must to see. Looking forward to returning here on our next trip to Cuba.
